Global Classroom Project

Our collaboration with classrooms in Morocco and England.

What is the Global Classroom Project?

Elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) participate in the Global Classroom Project, which provides an opportunity for students to work with peers from around the world on authentic tasks and challenges.

As part of the Global Classroom Project, schools select a Sustainable Development Goal from among 17 goals established by the United Nations as a blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet.

Throughout the Global Classroom Project, students also learn attributes of Portrait of a Graduate, which prioritizes the development of skills that will empower FCPS students to be productive citizens of a global community and successful in the workforce of the future.

FCPS Portrait of a Graduate Attributes: Communicator, Collaborator, Ethical & Global Citizen, Creative & Critical Thinker

This project has been a great opportunity for my students to explore and investigate Issue #14 which is Life Below Water with students from Morocco to become aware of the scope of the problem nationally and internationally. Both groups of students have worked diligently by reading articles and watching videos about this issue to finally come up with an action plan which they captured in a google slides and posters they drew. In this project, both groups have not only learned about each other’s culture, but about the common struggle that connect us in finding solutions to the main problem that the world is facing. My students have used some of the Portrait of the Graduate attribute such as communication, collaboration and critical thinking to reach their goals.  Please take the time to look through our student's project
